Pumkin carving with Devin

Devin and I carved some pumpkins yesterday. This was Devin's first year carving his without assistance, and I think he did an amazing job. I free hand carved, and I think it's kind of obvious which one is mine...bwahahahaha.

Furbabies!

Woke up to these stray furbabies on my porch this morning :S Yes, I fed them.

Today is all about Steven's family. When Steven tragically passed, it was just after losing his Gran. Kristin, my daughter along with a large group friends have worked tirelessly to create a fundraiser that will take place this evening. The event will celebrate and honor the life of Steven and will raise funds to help ease the financial burdens on his family at a time when they are dealing with such heartbreak. Steven was an incredible person, I know this because over weeks I've heard so many wonderful, comical, caring, loving stories about him. I'm so proud to see a group of teens come together and put in so much time, money and heart into this project purely out of love for their friend.

My family loves books! I'm so pleased to have won this autographed copy of "My Little Sailboat" it is such a darling book.

Book Description

Alice Palace is writing, illustrating, and publishing a 10 book children's series about a little boy named Marvin. Marvin is in his cabin loft late at night, and he really should be sleeping. Instead, he dreams about playing with his wildlife friends. Each book ends with Little Marvin, and his wildlife friends all going to sleep in his bedroom. The parents can then say, "Marvin is going to sleep, and so are you!"

Alice Palace has completed 5 books in the Little Marvin adventures. Alice is publishing Marvin's 6th adventure, My Little Sawtooth Mountain, in May 2009. Marvin is climbing up the mountain to see what he can see.

My Little Sailboat is very special to Alice. She dedicated this book to her Mom and Dad. They are 89 years young, and live in Sarasota, Florida. Sisters, Nancy, Mary and Alice sailed as children on Pleasant Lake in Annandale, Minnesota. Dad and Mom built the family sailboats pictured on the back cover of the My Little Sailboat book. The sisters are forever grateful to their parents for this wonderful sailing adventure.

Alice Palace started Bearpaw Books at age 50. It was probably a mid-life crises situation. Sister Mary, came on board as her Sales Representative. Carrie Smeby is Alice's computer specialist. She does all of the colorization in the Bearpaw Book series. Marvin Thibodeau (who Little Marvin is named after) is Bearpaw Book's Shipping and Receiving Manager. When Marvin is asked about "Little Marvin" he says, "Well, I've changed a lot!"

My Little Sawtooth Mountain, and My Little Christmas Wish will be available in 2009 and 2010.

Let's see, Let's see, what will Little Marvin be?

Happy Halloween!

Fun morning this morning...my son's picture from last Halloween was on our local morning show, I TiVo'd it for my hard working hubby to see when he gets home. Who knew seeing a picture on tv could be such a fun thrill? haha.

Life...

One thing I've learned in the last few months after dealing with tragedy after tragedy is that the old saying "life is short" truly is more than just a saying...it is sadly, a fact.

It is so important to love the ones you love with everything you have, and honestly...if you can't do that...do everything you can NOT to hurt them. Everyone is flawed, it's just the way it is...and you know what, it's beautiful.

Hatred breeds hatred. Love breeds love. A smile creates another smile. A giggle is contagious.
And so on...

eBay Win Your Dreams Instant Win

This is the alternative entry, to enter without a purchase. I found that I am able to redeem "free gifts" at 10 am pacific time on the dot....whenever I try any other time I only see virtual "free gifts" available. Good Luck!

I've been able to redeem a baseball hat almost every day that I enter. My son collects baseball hats, so he will be thrilled with receiving one. The rest I plan to donate to his school...they have blue slip days ( blue slips are given to students for exceptional behavior) where they draw student names and give small prizes so these will be great for that.
